Watergate Bay Sprint is a unique motorsport event which takes place on 17 & 18 September on the North Cornwall coast. Located on the B3276 coast road between Newquay and Padstow, it made history in 2018 as a Hillclimb, the first event of its kind in England to close a public road for motorsport use.

The two-day closed road speed event became a Sprint in 2021 and that format continues in 2022. Watergate Bay Sprint provides competitors with an exciting closed-road challenge and spectators with superb viewing as an impressive array of around 110 cars and drivers from across the UK race against the clock in a variety of machinery in a bid to take class honours or the coveted Fastest Time of the Day Award. Once again, local charities will benefit from the weekend’s activities, as profits will be donated to the Cornwall Air Ambulance and Watergate Bay Surf Lifesaving Club with £27,000 already being donated to good causes since the inaugural event in 2018. Racing starts at 09:30 each day and advance tickets are available or can be purchased on the gate. Plenty to see with a variety of display stands and access to the cars and drivers is included.
