Redruth prepare to face Leicester

Redruth welcome league leaders Leicester Lions to the recreation ground this weekend.

The Lions roar has been very loud this season and they sit proudly on top of the table looking certain to win the league and promotion to National 1.

Given their central location they will probably be one of those rare sides that face reduced travel in Nat.1 compared to life in National 2 West.

The Lions have won 19 of their 20 games their only reverse coming at home against Dings Crusaders by 15-19.

Leicester have tended not to blow teams away but have with that one exception always done enough to get the result. Last time out they overcame nearest rivals Clifton by 14-24 points to all but secure the title.

On 03/03/23 the Lions host relegation threatened Barnstaple so expect to notch up win number 20.

Their kicker is Benjamin Young (fly-half) who has 148 points and their top try scorer is Devon Constant (Wing) who is on 13.

Devon is Richard Browns main opponent in the Nat 2 West top try scoring stakes although I think Richard would acknowledge that Devon scores most of his tries from further out! But of course they still count the same.

Earlier in the season the Lions beat Redruth by 31-15. The result looks and is clear cut but the Reds were actually winning at half-time and were guilty in the second period of not taking their chances.

Before this match the Reds travel to Bournville on 03/03/23 so will hopefully have an away win on the 3G in the 2nd city.

Stats: Redruth are now in 5th place on 66 points having won 13 of their 19 games and with a +198 points difference.

Fraser Honey continues to rack up the points and is now on 165 which makes him the highest points scorer in National 2 West.
The top try scorer is Richard Brown with 14 which makes him the highest try scorer in National 2 West.
