Cornwall RLFC head to Workington

Cornwall RLFC head coach Mike Abbott has named his 21-man squad for Sunday’s Betfred League 1 clash away to Workington.

For the Choughs’ longest trip of the season, and the furthest any side has to travel in English professional sport in 2023, new loan signing Jordan Bull goes straight into the travelling party.

There is also a return for Sam Gilder as he steps up his recovery from a knee injury. Both Jack Ray and George Mitchell are included, but a late decision on the pairs fitness will be made closer to matchday.

Illness forced Ray to miss Cornwall’s last encounter at home to North Wales Crusaders while Mitchell limped off in the second half with a recurrence of a hamstring injury suffered in training last month.

Cornwall will be searching for a maiden away triumph this term while for the home side, a victory will further strengthen their play-off credentials after suffering relegation from the Championship last year.

Cornwall: (from) Aaroson, Ashton, E Badham, Boase, Boots, Brown, Bull, Carter, Collins, Cullen, Dimech, Gilder, Lloyd, Mitchell, Nichol, Ray, Rusling, Slaney, Trerise, Weetman, Whitton.
