Cornwall RLFC head coach Mike Abbott has named his 21-man squad for Sunday’s Betfred league 1 round 20 clash against Oldham.
The Memorial Ground chief is still without Josh Hartshorne under the return to play protocols following a failed head injury assessment in the 34-16 defeat at the hands of Workington Town on July 23.
Centre Tom Ashton is named in the squad as he continues to recover from a shoulder problem while Errol Carter will be pushing for a recall also.
Harry Boots has sat out of training this week after a recurrence of his knee problem after the victory over North Wales Crusaders. Like Ashton, a late decision will be made over the Welsh prop forward’s fitness.
Cornwall’s top try scorer Cameron Brown, with 13 so far this term, could move back into the halves with Adam Rusling unavailable for the Roughyeds’ visit to the Duchy.
Oldham have named a virtually full strength squad as they start life under the former Bath and Toulon rugby union coach Mike Ford, who replaced Stuart Littler earlier this week.
“We will see how both Tommy and Harry Boots go in the captain’s run before making a call on their chances of playing against Oldham,” Abbott told cornwallrlfc.co.uk.
“There will be changes in the halves with Adam being unavailable and this opens the door for other players to come in and do a job.
“I have had players who are fully fit chomping at the bit to get out on the park in recent weeks and they may well get an opportunity against Oldham.”
