With the past weekend a Reserve one in the Championship season, it means the Cornish Pirates are next in action away to Coventry this Saturday, the 22nd October, kick-off at 3pm.
Both teams have thus far played 5, won 3 and lost 2 games in the present league campaign, but with Coventry holding sixth place, one above the Cornish Pirates, on points difference.
Of general interest, Coventry have been boosted this past week with the signings announced of scrum-half Will Chudley and back-rower Tom Dodd, who both join from crisis hit Worcester Warriors.
Speaking ahead of this Saturday’s contest, Cornish Pirates’ joint head coach Gavin Cattle has commented:
“We are aware that the present league position suggests where we are at in our development, and no disrespect to Coventry this week is more about focusing on ourselves rather than the opposition.
“Addressing our high penalty count is a must to concentrate on, as are the areas of our game where we are not getting the accuracy, or the intensity, aimed for.
“Having said that, as a group getting the result against Ampthill showed tremendous grit, character and perseverance when it mattered, so what we need now is much of the same over eighty minutes plus.”
