Thursday evening update: MET OFFICE YELLOW WARNING FOR ICE 

"Today has been rather busy, with a short dry interlude before more wintry showers arrive from the Northwest. Any precipitation is likely to freeze overnight, with the risk of 1 to 2cm of snowfall to higherground and the moors. Therefore the Met office have issued a warning for ice. This starts from 17:00hrs until 10:am Friday. Ice is expected to form overnight especially anywhere that hasn't been treated, even locations outside of the warning zone could see icy stretches so extra care is required if you are out travelling anywhere. Road surfaces could change suddenly, and become unpredictable so extra caution is needed. Particularly anywhere that snow has fallen will freeze as tonight's air temperatures will plummet after dark with highs of up to +3°C, and lows down to -5°C, with a feel like temperature much lower. The winds do stay breezy but now from a north/northwesterly direction, with speeds of 10-30mph but do drop off during the second half of the night. So watch out for more sleet, hail, snow and rain showers."

Travel Update

Road:

A30 Bodmin - Traffic sources appear A30 is now open, however some reports say that it is still looking bad in some locations due to snowfall, and a few lorries stuck on hills. Main areas affected: Westbound between the A395 and the junction with the A38 Bodmin South - lane closures. Eastbound between the A38 Bodmin South and the junction with the A395 - lane closures.

A38 closed both ways due to an incident involving one vehicle involved from Drift Lane to West Taphouse turn off.

A386 Bowerland Road, Okehampton - Slow traffic and road has become impassable due to an accident and snow on A386 Bowerland Road both directions from Hatherleigh Road to A3079 Holsworthy Road. Please approach with care.

A3079 Holsworthy Road, A3079 closed both ways due to snow, from Launceston turn off to Ashbury Cross Junction.

A39 Otterham - A39 both directions have become impassable, hazardous driving conditions due to snow from the B3262 (Otterham) to B3314 (Collan's Cross, Camelford)

A395 Pipers Pool - Delays and road has become impassable due to snow on A395 both ways from the church (Pipers Pool) to the A39 (Trewassa).

A386 Follygate - Queueing traffic and road has become impassable due to snow on A386 both ways from the A3072 (Follygate) to A30 (Sourton Cross, Okehampton).

Air:

All Skybus flights between Lands End and the Isles of Scilly are on hold due to poor weather conditions.

Penzance Helicopter flights to and from the Isles of Scilly are currently on hold due to poor visibility.

Sea:

St Mawes Passenger Ferry cancelled due to high winds.
