Part of the ongoing improvements to the A30 will see the stretch between Chiverton and Scorrier closed this weekend.

There will also be a couple of overnight closures, starting this evening with full diversions in place.

This work is to allow for trees and bushes to be removed  on the section near Blackwater.

These closures will then be followed by a weekend road closure from Chiverton to Scorrier junction from 8pm on Friday 21 April to 6am on Monday 24 April.

The Highways Agency in a statement on their website say: "We will be undertaking a range of works at various locations along the closed section of road. Works include the construction of a new road crossover in preparation for switching to a contraflow system in May.

"We are also excavating the road to undertake utility diversions, including a trench across the carriageway.

"A section of the B3284 south of the A30 will also be closed during the weekend for road realignment works."

The western A30 diversion route has been agreed with Cornwall Council in order to avoid low bridges.
